About this Episode

Summer vacation is here - at least for the vicars! While they are away, Bishop Daly welcomes to the show Father Gary Thomas, a friend from the Diocese of San Jose.

Fr. Thomas is the official exorcist of the Diocese of San Jose. He has served in that role since 2005 after being sent to Rome by the Bishop of San Jose to attend classes on the Rite of Exorcism. While in Rome studying, Fr. Thomas met a journalist, Matt Baglio, who asked him if he could write a book about his training as an exorcist. That book, The Rite: Making of a Modern Exorcist, was later adapted into a movie, The Rite, staring Anthony Hopkins.

Fr. Thomas shares his experience with Bishop Daly, as well as the history and theology of exorcism. Stay tuned for part 2 of this special episode, which will be avaliable the week of July 23.
